Methods

Helping students learn, grow, and achieve their greatest academic potential.

With over 10 years of experience as an educator, 7 years of experience as a scientist in industry, and a recent graduate (SFSU, 2023), I believe in the importance of giving back and preparing the next generation of leaders.

Working with students, there is no “one size fits all” methods when it come to tutoring. Each student requires a different approach or a combination of approaches to master the subject they are struggling with.

However, the following is my approach, which I then modify when I work with my students:

  1. Discuss what the goals are and establish a rapport.

  2. Go over what the concerns are and how to mitigate them.

  3. Acquire contact information of school teachers and inform them that the student has made an effort to seek help.

  4. Review general concepts where needed

  5. Go into greater detail when needed

  6. Acquire resources to enhance learning efficacy

What I do not modify is the following:

  • Having confidence in my student’s ability and being available for questions
